During the MWC event, Google announced the integration of AI into messaging, image recognition, and car systems on Android, enabling intelligent features.
Firstly, starting today, the Google Messages app allows direct access to the Gemini AI assistant. Users can now request Gemini to draft message content, brainstorm ideas, and plan activities through text prompts without leaving the app.
The Android visual accessibility app, Lookout, has also incorporated AI descriptions. It automatically generates descriptions for photos, online images, or pictures within messages and reads them aloud, aiding visually impaired individuals in understanding image content. This feature is now globally available and supports English. Another similar application is the combination of Google Lens in Maps and the Android accessibility feature, TalkBack. The AI visual recognition of Google Lens allows users to point their phone camera at the surroundings, with TalkBack providing spoken information about the location, such as the operating hours of a bank or restaurant ratings.
Additionally, the AI-powered Android Auto now automatically highlights key points in long texts or group conversations while users are driving. It also suggests replies and follow-up actions, enabling users to send messages, share estimated arrival times, or make phone calls with a simple tap.
